Sarah + Luke | Marywood Conference & Retreat Center

 At last, Sarah + Luke are MARRIED!!! These two have a special place in my heart. Keep reading to learn about this beautiful winter day!

December 11th, 2021, Sarah and Luke got married at the beautiful Marywood Conference and Retreat Center. 

I have never done a wedding at this venue so I was so excited to be in a new environment. You never know what kind of creativity would hit. 

I knew Sarah from High school. We didn't talk much then but knew of each other. Few years later she reaches out to me for her wedding and it was a no brainer that I had to be her photographer. At their engagement session I got to meet Luke who is 100% smitten with Sarah. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her and the level of comfort they had with each other was infectious. They make you feel like you have know them for ages.

Sarah shared me with me that her and Luke's relationship has majorly been long distance due to college. They supported each others careers even though the separation was not easy. She was counting down the days they would be married and never have to be apart again. So this day wasn't just about getting married but also the day these two lovebirds knew that they would be together, at last.

When I got to the venue, Sarah looked stunning and her girls were so excited to make her feel as special as she is. Luke was smiling from ear to ear, anxiously waiting to see his bride. 

Their wedding Inspo was Dark and moody vibes, traditional Catholic but making it edgy, wintery jewel tones, eclectic modern, vintage elements, hint of Harry Potter. So with my editing I went a little darker than usual to match the vibe.

She had a great team of vendors (listed below) and did some of her own decor. SHE MADE HER BOUQUET AND ALL THE FLORALS! My jaw dropped to the floor because her arrangements were everything. 

Their Catholic Ceremony took place outside! yeah! outside!!!!!! This was my very first time experiencing a Catholic mass outdoors and it was dreamy!

During their portraits I COULD NOT have asked for better lighting!!!!! The sun glowed through the trees and the sunset reflected on the water. Truly magical. They shared letters with each other on the dock, such a sweet moment.

After the ceremony, it was party time!!!! Sarah + Luke compiled an amazing playlist keeping people on the dance floor all night long. Later through the night they switched into their dancing shoes and we snuck away for some photos under the lights! They were sent off with a sparkler exit followed by a bonfire after party.

Q: Advice to brides who are currently planning their Weddings?

A: Everyone will want to have a say about your day and what they think you should do. Do what you want, and do what you can to save money where you want to, but also don’t be afraid to splurge on things that YOU really want for your special day or splurge on things that will save you peace and mind during the week of your wedding. Your state of mind going into such an important week is worth investing in.
